The Doomed RMS Titanic to Set Sail Again in 2022 – Here’s Everything You Need to Know

The original Titanic may not have been the unsinkable ocean liner it was once considered to be, but a British passenger and cargo company is determined to create a full-sized replica of the doomed vessel under the name ‘Titanic II’.
The infamous luxury vessel, which was dubbed the largest in the world, sank during the early hours of April, 15 1912 after getting hit by an iceberg, while on its maiden voyage from England to the U.S.
Titanic’s Full-Sized Replica
Now, a full-sized replica of the ill-fated luxury vessel is under construction and is expected to set sail in 2022, taking the same route between England and United States as the original Titanic. The Chinese cargo company Blue Star, which is responsible for manufacturing the ship, had put the project on hold for several years due to a serious financial dispute before recently deciding to resume construction on the luxury liner.
Since the ship is the exact replica of the 1912 vessel, it is meant to carry the same number of passengers and crew members as the original Titanic. But the new vessel will be more technologically advanced and employ modern navigation and safety methods.
The luxury ship is expected to cost over $500 million and will carry 2,400 passengers as well as 900 crew members. As a precaution, Titanic II will include enough lifeboats for every passenger on board in case the ship faces the same fate as the last one.
What’s really interesting about this ship is that it will follow a similar cabin layout as the original Titanic and replicate the ill-fated vessel’s aesthetic feel as closely as possible by adding large wooden doors, lavish dining hall and a ballroom.
While talking to MSN about the project, the chairman of the ambitious cargo company, Clive Palmer, said that the ship will follow the original route (while avoiding the icebergs), journeying from Southampton to New York. Moreover, she will also visit different ports around the globe, attracting attention from people and inspiring them to experience Titanic’s magic.
The company has yet to reveal the ticket prices or when the tickets will be available for sale.
What is Titanic II?
The Titanic II is a luxury vessel currently being made in Nanjing, China by the company CSC Jinling, meant to act as a replica of the original RMS Titanic that sank in 1912. The project was first announced in 2012 by the Blue Star Line Pty. Ltd., which is a company owned by Clive Palmer, a business mogul from Brisbane, Australia.
The ship was meant to launch in 2016, but the project quickly ran into financial problems that caused a lengthy delay in construction. Finally, the manufacturers announced that construction would resume on September 27, 2018, and finish in 2022.
Although the ship is meant to be a replica of the original 1912 luxury vessel, there are a number of ways that it will differ from RMS Titanic. The replica will have a more robust and modern engine, higher gross tonnage, better safety and navigation features and upgraded third-class cabins.

The ship will replicate the ill-fated vessel’s aesthetic feel as closely as possible by adding large wooden doors, lavish dining hall and a ballroom.
The Route
The luxury ocean liner is expected to set sail from Dubai to Southampton, England, from where it will make its way towards the New York City. The ship’s maiden voyage will last for two weeks after which it will take other routes across the globe.
Ticket Prices
As of now, Blue Star Line hasn’t revealed any information about the ticket prices or when eager passengers will be able to get their hands on them, but the company may announce more details as we get closer to the ship’s launch date.
Who is Clive Palmer?
Clive Palmer is the ambitious entrepreneur and mastermind behind the Titanic II project who started his coal and mining business in 1973, and owns a number of golf courses and resorts around Australia. Palmer has taken on a number of other attention-grabbing projects apart from Titanic II. In 2013, he created Australia’s first-ever dinosaur themed park in Queensland which attracts tourists from around the globe. His current net worth is around $425 million.
